Bailey-Gibbon Rib Approximator w/ extended three-pronged blades, 6-3/4" (17.0 cm) Baily-Gibbon Rib Approximator is an instrument used in cardiothoracic surgical procedures. This rib approximator comes equipped with extended three-pronged blades which gives it better gripping ability during rib approximation. A ratcheting mechanism with a large dial are used to set the claws at variable spreads and then bring them closer together.

Uniquely, this instrument can also be used as an approximator to bring the ribs back to closure by utilizing the pointed hooks on the tip of each arm.
