Handle for Improved Rotating Kerrison Rongeurs come in both the stainless steel and ceramic coated finish. These handles are to be used in conjunction with the Improved Rotating Kerrison shafts, which are sold separately. The no-spring design handle design elimates the risk of broken springs or caught gloves.

undefinedCeramic Cut Improved Rotating Kerrison Rongeurs provide all the benefits of the standard rotating shaft models, but with an improved release mechanism and shaft as well as black ceramic coating. The special tubular shaft can be rotated in 45-degree steps in 8 different locking positions, for a range of cutting angles. The shaft may only be released in 1 of the 8 positions, preventing accidental release during surgery. The shaft comes apart in 4 different pieces for easy cleaning and sterilization. In addition, the tubular shape of the shaft makes disassembly faster and cleaning easier, unlike traditional rongeurs which have two sliding (upper and lower) shafts. This allows the shaft to remain clear and assists during decontamination and sterilization, ultimately preserving the life of the instrument. Bi-Color rongeurs feature a combination black and gold titanium nitride surface treatment, which hardens and protects the instrument body and cutting surface for a durable, smooth gliding action. These coated rongeurs do not need sharpening as often as traditional rongeurs, thus reducing operating costs and enhancing service life. It is specifically designed for use in laminectomies in which a portion of the vertebral arch is removed posteriorly.

The dark finish also reduces glare under operating room lights. The ronguer features thin footplates and small handles that allow it to be used in delicate areas such as near the spinal cord. In laminectomies the vertebral arch is removed to give additional access to the spinal cord or to relieve pressure on particular segments. It is available in 7", 8" and 9" and in a variety of a variety of bite widths making it highly useful in a vast array of surgical scenarios. It is also available with a regular footplate upon special request.
