This instrument is especially useful aortic aneurysm repairs of the abdominal and thoracic aorta particularly this clamp can be used in accessing the portion of the aorta that is found superior to the celiac artery. Curved shanks coupled with a 60 degree angle and DeBakey teeth allow this clamp to access some deeper vessel structures without damaging the vessel walls or the surrounding tissue.

This instrument is designed with ring handles for ease in maneuvering and opening and closing and also a ratcheting mechanism to hold the forceps at a particular tightness. This clamp is build sturdily but made small enough to clamp the delicate vessels of a newborn child. This instrument is particularly well suited due to its ability to maintain a hold on the vessel without causing tears or rip on the delicate vessel walls of the newborn.
